Step 2 actually makes two different roller coasters, plus there are now a couple of toy roller coasters now available from other companies. The Step 2 Roller Coaster options both feature a roller coaster car and a sloped ramp. Your kids can climb up the steps, sit on the ride on car, and go for a roller coaster ride unlike anything they could normally experience at their home! Kid and toddler roller coasters are a favorite for keeping tots occupied and having a blast at birthday parties, daycares, and other events. A Step 2 roller coaster is one of the best toys you can buy to entertain your whole brood!

This Step 2 roller coaster is the first of its kind. It is incredibly popular, with hundreds of almost-perfect online reviews. It features a gently sloping ramp that has two hills to give young toddlers an extra thrill. It can be used indoors or outdoors. It is low to the ground with toddlers in mind, but provides an exhilarating ride for kids up to age 5.

The Step 2 Extreme Coaster is a bigger, faster roller coaster for older kids.
Like the name says, this coaster is more extreme than the original Step 2 Up and Down Roller Coaster. It is meant for kids who are a bit bigger and want a greater thrill. It features one taller, steeper hill that will give your kids some speed and let them continue to race across the room or your yard – you’ll probably want to set this one up outdoors. Riders up to 75 pounds can enjoy the Step 2 Extreme Coaster.

Who doesn’t love the timeless look of Radio Flyer? They’ve jumped on the toy roller coaster bandwagon with a newer offering, the Radio Flyer 500. It is technically a Radio Flyer race car with a track, but it works the same way as the toy roller coasters described above. This option can accommodate riders as young as 18 months. The race car makes an adorable ride-on toy when it’s not in use with the race car track. The race car track has grooves to encourage your young racers to speed their own toy cars down the ramp when it’s not in use.

Back to Basics Roller Coaster
The Back to Basics Roller Coaster Ride-On Toy, produced by Scholastic, is a relatively new choice for toddlers.
The Back to Basics Roller Coaster is a toddler roller coaster aimed at the youngest set of riders. It is designed for ages 18 months to 3 years. The ride-on car does have a steering-wheel type handle, which is nice for when your kids want to use it as a regular ride-on toy. Back to Basics is the toy line made by the Scholastic company, which is most well-known for books.
The Back to Basics Roller Coaster is not yet as popular as the Step 2 roller coaster options. It is newer to the market. That being said, there are very limited online reviews so far. At this point, my inclination would be to go with either the Step 2 Up and Down Roller Coaster or the Radio Flyer 500 since those are in the same price range, target the same age range, and have proven to be high-quality, fun toys based upon parents’ reviews. This may turn out to be a serious contender, but it’s a bit more of a gamble than the other toy roller coaster options at this point. Has your child used a Back to Basics Roller Coaster?
